West Brom stance on Brandon Thomas-Asante exit emerges as Hull City submit transfer offer

West Brom don’t want to sell Brandon Thomas-Asante ahead of the transfer deadline but Hull City’s transfer offer may be too good to turn down, according to Hull Live.

The outlet reported on its website on Monday (29 July) that the Tigers are looking to strike a deal for the striker this summer and are understood to have submitted a fee in the region of £2.5million for his signature.

While Carlos Corberan is keen to keep the 25-year-old at The Hawthorns, Albion may be forced into sanctioning his sale as Thomas-Asante’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

The Baggies would be keen to tie the striker down to new terms, but they are only expected to be open to doing this if they can keep him past the transfer deadline [Lewis Cox, 27 July].

Will Brandon Thomas-Asante exit West Brom after Hull City transfer update?

Albion aren’t blessed with many options at the top end of the pitch so it is only natural that they would be willing to keep their primary source of goals at The Hawthorns when the new season is a matter of weeks away.

However, they are running the risk of seeing Thomas-Asante walk away for nothing in 12 months’ time if they don’t agree to sell him before the end of the summer transfer window and that could tempt them into sanctioning his exit.

Any money raised by the 25-year-old’s sale could be reinvested back into Corberan’s playing squad and potentially even a new number nine which will be a necessity given the limited resources available to the manager.

Daryl Dike is unable to stay fit and available and Josh Maja struggled with fitness issues for large parts of last season meaning that a new number simply has to be signed whether Thomas-Asante leaves or not.
