West Brom submit fresh bid to sign Isaac Price with two Albion exits close
West Brom have submitted a fresh offer to Standard Liege for midfielder Isaac Price, according to Sacho Tavolieri.
The Belgian journalist reported on his X account (30 July) that the Baggies have tabled a new bid for Price and are not waiting for Standard Liege to respond.
Carlos Corberan’s side are leading the race to sign Price with the Northern Ireland international keen on a return to England just one year after leaving Everton for Belgium.
West Brom look to sign Price with new Championship season looming
The Baggies are looking to strengthen his midfield options following Nathaniel Chalobah and Yan M’Vila’s departures upon the expiry of their contracts and the impending sale of Okay Yokuslu to Trabzonspor.
Last season’s top goalscorer Brandon Thomas-Asante is set for a move to Hull City, leaving Karlan Grant, Josh Maja and Daryl Dike, who is currently nursing a long-term injury as their only options up front.
Corberan has a monumental task at the Hawthorns this summer to build a side capable of reaching the Championship play-off spots again this season, with the restart just over a fortnight away.
A deal for Price would be a massive coup for the Baggies, he has Premier League experience at Everton having made five first-team appearances before his move to Belgium, and has since become a regular international for Northern Ireland with 12 appearances for his country.
He has the skills to excel in the English second-tier while his profile is different from that of Yokuslu, he could offer a different dimension in midfield and add an attacking threat alongside John Swift and Alex Mowatt.
The 20-year-old departed for Belgium in search of first-team opportunities and established himself as a regular for Standard Liege and he could play a key part in West Brom’s promotion hopes this season should deal get over the line.
In other West Brom news, the Albion have let a “highly-rated” player leave on loan despite Corberan being a huge fan.
