Okay Yokuslu sends emotional goodbye message as West Brom exit confirmed
Okay Yokuslu has posted an emotional goodbye message via social media after sealing his West Brom exit.
The club confirmed [31 July] that the 30-year-old midfielder had joined Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor for an undisclosed fee, a deal believed to be worth £1.35million [Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, 29 July].
Yokuslu arrived at The Hawthorns as a free agent in the summer of 2022, going on to make 89 appearances and becoming a much-loved figure amongst the Baggies fanbase.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday (1 August), he wrote: “Thanks to my brothers in our dressing room, our fantastic manager, his staff, and everyone at the club. I loved every second I spent around the club. It’s been an absolute pleasure!
“Let’s see what the future brings, I will be supporting you from afar! I wish you all the best and love you all Baggies!”
Okay Yokuslu bids farewell as West Brom exit confirmed
Having built an unbreakable bond with Alex Mowatt in the middle of the park, West Brom fans will be fearing the worst when it comes to replacing the player this summer.
While Carlos Corberan has added 24-year-old Ousmane Diakite to the ranks already, there are few players who can offer the same impact in midfield as Yokuslu did at The Hawthorns.
The Turkish international was never afraid to put his body on the line for the Baggies, winning most of his duels in midfield, as well as popping up with the occasional goal, which were usually in important circumstances.

Of course, fans would have loved to see Yokuslu remain in the Midlands for another season, but with just 12 months left on his contract and no signs of extending his stay, it may have been the correct decision for the Baggies.
Rather than lose the 30-year-old on a free transfer next summer, the funds opened up by his departure could be put towards another signing or two before the transfer window closes.
In other West Brom news, Carlos Corberan must make a decision on Caleb Taylor following a contract update at The Hawthorns.
