Lewis Cox shares what West Brom fans chanted at Jayson Molumby versus Birmingham City

West Brom fans chanted about Jayson Molumby bust-up against Mallorca during the 4-1 pre-season defeat to Birmingham City, according to Lewis Cox.

The Express and Star journalist reported on 3 August that the away end was chanting: “He hits who he wants…” during the contest at St Andrew’s on Saturday.

The serenade from the stands came after the Republic of Ireland international was involved in a fracas in the Baggies’ last friendly where he lashed out at Mallorca’s No.12, Samu Costa.

The 24-year-old was substituted on by Carlos Corberan after 66 minutes with the score at 1-1 before the Baggies conceded three late goals.

There is a little concern at The Hawthorns after the flashpoint involving Molumby and now the reverse to their Midlands rivals during pre-season.

To see a player with the experience of Molumby showing these antics in a friendly was bizarre and isn’t going to be forgotten any time soon.

It is clear to see that Corberan isn’t holding a grudge over the punch and the Irishman remains firmly in his plans moving into the season.

With that being said, coming on and conceding three goals to a League One side isn’t quite the impact he would have wanted.

The Blues have certainly invested heavily in their squad in the transfer market which is something that the Baggies haven’t been able to do.

However, supporters would have expected a better result from their side irrespective of the differences in investment and there is clearly still some work to be done before they open their Championship campaign at QPR next Saturday (10 August).

In other West Brom news, Carlos Corberan must make a decision on Caleb Taylor following a contract update at The Hawthorns.
