West Brom make Besard Sabovic bid as contract drama continues at Djurgardens

West Brom have made a bid for Djurgardens midfielder Besard Sabovic, according to Expressen.

The Swedish newspaper reported via their website (3 August) that Djurgarden wants to keep Sabovic as one of their key players.

The Swedish midfielder, who was born in North Macedonia, has less than six months left on his deal with the Swedish side but they have failed to agree on terms to extend his stay yet.

West Brom signing Besard Sabovic makes a lot of sense

Whilst the start of the summer transfer window started fairly slowly at The Hawthorns, transfers have started to pick up over the last few weeks.

Although many may expect this to be in terms of arrivals, it’s the exits of many of their first-team players that have occurred more often than not over the last couple of weeks.

One of the main players who has left West Brom is Okay Yokuslu. The midfielder had been long-linked with an exit following his return from Euro 2024.

The midfielder had been quite the stalwart for the club since arriving back in the 2022/23 season.

His exit is one of the main reasons that a move for Sabovic makes a lot of sense. The two play in the same position and Sabovic is still just 26 years old.

Last term the midfielder made a total of 21 appearances across all competitions and scored five goals from defensive midfield.

And, the fact that Alex Mowatt has also extended his Hawthorns stay opens up the opportunity for the two to create a stellar partnership in Carlos Corberan’s midfield during 2024/25.

In other West Brom news, Carlos Corberan must make a decision on Caleb Taylor following a contract update at The Hawthorns.
