West Brom are set to ready another bid for Standard Liege midfielder Isaac Price, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
The Belgian journalist reported via his personal X account [2 August] that Standard Liege have rejected another bid from the Baggies for their 20-year-old prospect.
It is understood that the player is keen on joining the Baggies [Sacha Tavolieri] with the two clubs in talks over a £1.7million deal, though the Championship side’s first offer was dubbed “ridiculous” [Kevin Sauvage].
West Brom chase Isaac Price transfer
The former Everton youth prospect could be a huge coup for Carlos Corberan’s side this summer, especially given the amount of interest in him so far.
Price has become an integral part of the Belgian club’s squad since arriving from Merseyside last summer, going on to make 40 appearances in all competitions.
Although he was unable to make a proper breakthrough into Sean Dyche’s team, having only made five first-team appearances for the Toffees, a return to England looks imminent.
The brave move to Belgium has certainly advanced his career. He has now won 12 international caps for Northern Ireland, even scoring twice in that time.
And while Price is naturally a central midfielder, he can play on the right flank, as well as further up the pitch in support of the attacking players.
The Baggies are now light in midfield after Okay Yokuslu’s return to Turkey, joining Trabzonspor in the Super Lig, with some fans doubting that new signing Ousmane Diakite will acquire a starring role.
At just 20 years of age, Price could already add a lot to the Baggies team this summer, and for a price believed to be around £1.7million, it seems like a no-brainer for Corberan.
However, with the amount of interest piling up, West Brom will need to act quickly if they are to secure the youngster’s signature this summer.
