Besard Sabovic left out of Djurgardens squad as West Brom submit bid to sign him
Besard Sabovic has been left out of Djurgarden’s squad against IFK Goteborg after West Brom made a bid for him.
Djurgardens announced the news on X on Sunday (4 August) after Swedish newspaper Expressen reported on 3 August that the Baggies wanted to sign the 26-year-old.
However, fans may need to temper their excitement as the Swedish-Macedonian midfielder is currently serving a suspension after accumulating too many yellow cards in the league.
West Brom target Besard Sabovic misses out for Djurgarden
It has been an up-and-down summer transfer window for Carlos Corberan which has seen his side suffer in recent weeks.
This has seen Brandon Thomas Asante depart as the club hierarchy looks to deal with restrictions due to profit and sustainability rules.
Another star who was moved on to help resolve problems caused by these restrictions was Okay Yokuslu who has joined Trabzonspor.
With that move going through, a deal to sign Sabovic would certainly make sense as a somewhat direct replacement from the transfer market.
The 26-year-old prefers to play deeper in the midfield and could prove to be a useful option as a double pivot with Jayson Molumby.
However, the Irishman has been linked with a return to Millwall [The Mirror] which could cause further problems for Corberan ahead of the season.
Now that Sabovic has missed Djurgarden’s most recent matchday squad, Baggies fans could be confident of confirming the signing.
In other West Brom news, Leicester legend Jamie Vardy is set to cause one of Carlos Corberan’s transfers to fail.
