Leicester legend Jamie Vardy to cause West Brom transfer move to fail

Jamie Vardy is inadvertently stopping Leicester City from loaning Tom Cannon to West Brom, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The newspaper reported on 4 August (page 54) that the Foxes legend could miss the opening two weeks of the Premier League season due to an injury.

This would leave Steve Cooper light upfront which could see Cannon stay amid loan interest from the Baggies, Sheffield United and Norwich City.

Now Carlos Corberan will have to wait until the end of the window to see if the 21-year-old becomes available.

West Brom could miss out on Tom Cannon

The need for a striker option at the Hawthorns is needed after losing Brandon Thomas-Asante to Coventry City in the past week.

Devante Cole has come in as a potential replacement option but there is no doubt that Cannon would be a positive option.

At 21, the forward does have positive experience in the Championship, having a positive spell with Preston North End in the 2022/23 season.

An initial loan deal would suit the Baggies given that there would be less pressure and risk riding on the deal being successful.

It is frustrating that a deal won’t be possible ahead of the season opener against QPR on Saturday (10 August).

With Vardy out injured, Leicester are assessing their options which could leave the Baggies shorthanded moving into the new campaign.
