West Brom set to announce new signing as medical passed – Sky Sports journalist

Juventus defender Gianluca Frabotta has completed his West Brom medical ahead of his transfer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

This was reported by the journalist (6 August) who stated that the deal Frabotta is complete and just awaiting the official announcement.

He will be arriving from the Italian side on a free transfer but the Old Lady will retain a 20% sell-on clause in case of any future exits.

Gianluca Frabotta is a smart transfer from West Brom

Last season, the Baggies’ defence was arguably one of their strongest areas on the pitch.

The likes of Kyle Bartley and Cedric Kipre were among the club’s best players with the latter even earingin the Player of the Season award.

But, as the Ivorian’s contract expired at the end of last term, the defender found himself a free agent and earned himself a move to Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims.

Although the loss of the 27-year-old is no doubt a major loss to the club, the fact that they have managed to identify a suitable replacement as quickly as they have showcases where the club is at in terms of future plans.

After failing to progress past the semi-finals of the play-offs after a stellar Championship campaign, it seems evident that the club are once again vying for Premier League promotion.

And, with their current exodus of players such as Bright Thomas-Asante who are in the final years of their contracts, it shows that the club aren’t leaving any stone unturned.
