Carlos Corberan shares Jed Wallace injury update ahead of West Brom clash v QPR
Carlos Corberan has confirmed that West Brom captain Jed Wallace could be sidelined for up to three weeks and will miss the clash with QPR.
Albion begin their Championship campaign with a trip to Loftus Road on Saturday (10 August) but will have to make do without their skipper as he continues to make his way back from a calf problem.
However, the Baggies can call upon all seven of their new signings for their trip to the capital with Corberan admitting he is willing to throw the likes of Lewis Dobbin and Gianluca Frabotta into the deep end.
As quoted by the West Brom website (9 August) he said: “Unfortunately Jed Wallace suffered pain in his calf last week.
“He’s going to be out of the group for about three weeks, which means he isn’t available for tomorrow’s game at QPR.
“Every new player is more than welcome, even if they’ve only had one or two days working with me. I expect every new player to be part of the group because we need them. Even if they haven’t completed a pre-season with us, now is the moment to adapt to the reality.
“We need all the players to work and be focused. Even if they didn’t complete a pre-season with us, they know the level they need to show on the football pitch.”
Is West Brom captain Jed Wallace injured ahead of QPR clash?
Losing Wallace for the start of the season is a blow for the Baggies, but Corberan’s side have at least been boosted by the availability of all of their new summer signings ahead of the new campaign.
It was only a matter of days ago that supporters were worried that the West Brom ranks looked more than a little light as Brandon Thomas-Asante, Okay Yokuslu and Connor Townsend all departed within a few days of one another.

If Albion want to mount a serious playoff push once again this season, they are still going to need further additions at both ends of the pitch, before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August.
But for now, the playing squad at Corberan’s disposal is more than capable of picking up a result at Loftus Road on Saturday.
Hopefully, Albion come away with all three points and no more injury worries to deal with.
