Shilen Patel shares behind-the-scenes West Brom message as video shared

West Brom chairman Shilen Patel sent a message of thanks to the kitchen staff at the club’s training ground after a video was shared on X.

Patel posted on X (9 August) after the club produced a 10-minute video showcasing the behind-the-scenes goings-on in the training ground kitchen, including interviews with the chefs and other staff.

While not included in the video itself, the Baggies chief said that he enjoys eating at the Palm training ground, a sentiment shared by players including Semi Ajayi and Alex Palmer in short interview clips.

Patel said: “Cheers to a fantastic kitchen staff that fuels our first teams, youngsters, staff and guests!

“I always look forward to lunchtime at the Training Ground.”

West Brom showcase preparation for new Championship season

Another strong campaign is expected from the Baggies after last season’s fifth-placed Championship finish, and a 10-minute explainer of the club’s culinary preparations play a small part in that.

Carlos Corberan’s squad has undergone plenty of change ahead of the big kick-off against QPR on 10 August, with several big names departing following multiple seasons of service at The Hawthorns.

The first transfer window under Patel’s leadership following the American’s takeover of the club in February may have started slowly, but recent days have seen Albion complete some big-name signings.

Securing Lewis Dobbin on loan from Aston Villa will give Baggies fans high hopes of replicating the impact made by Mikey Johnston last season, particularly if he starts from the off against QPR.

The negative hangover from Gochuan Lai’s stewardship remains – with the club recently placed under an EFL-imposed business ban due to PSR worries [Rob Dorsett, 3 August] – but Patel doing his best to share the work done at every level of the club is a sign that Albion’s luck could be beginning to turn.

In other West Brom news, the club owned by Kylian Mbappe’s company have signed a player who recently left The Hawthorns.
