West Brom make formal offer for Juventus midfielder, player keen on move

West Brom have made a loan bid for Joseph Nonge Boende after holding positive talks with the Juventus midfielder, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The Belgian journalist posted on X (13 August) to report that the two clubs were now in “direct contact” over a move for the 19-year-old, with the Baggies making a bid to sign him on a season-long loan.

Albion’s bid doesn’t include an option to buy Nonge Boende permanently, but the Belgian midfielder is still keen on the move to The Hawthorns having already spoken with Baggies manager Carlos Corberan.

As a result, agreeing personal terms with the teenager, who made four first-team appearances off the bench for Juventus last season, reportedly will not be an issue ahead of signing any loan deal.

Joseph Nonge Boende loan to answer West Brom midfield question

Albion’s transfer business so far this summer has seen the club do their best to plug several gaps in the squad, but midfield remains an area in which the Baggies still need to make additions.

The departures of Yann M’Vila and Nathaniel Chalobah on free transfers, as well as the ever-present Okay Yokuslu leaving for Trabzonspor, have left Corberan with a dearth of options in his double-pivot.

Ousmane Diakite’s arrival from TSV Hartberg on a free transfer will undoubtedly help to bolster the defensive midfield stocks at the Hawthorns, as will the addition of utility man Paddy McNair on loan.

But in Nonge Boende, Albion could be bringing in a midfielder set to climb to the top of European football with Juventus, as reflected by their transfer offer for the teenager being strictly loan-only.

Cash is tight at The Hawthorns following the EFL’s implementation of a PSR-related business ban [Rob Dorsett, 3 August], and adding a highly-rated player like Nonge Boende to the ranks will certainly help to plug the gaps in Corberan’s midfield.
