Patel hires ‘incredible’ new arrival West Brom as deal announced on Thursday

West Brom have announced the appointment of Andrew Nestor as the club’s new sporting director.

In a statement on their official website on Thursday (15 August), Albion confirmed that Nestor will offer support across all of the club’s “football functions”.

Nestor is currently the CEO of Bilkul Football Group, who owns the Baggies, and has a lot of experience in the game having initially served as President, CEO and General Manager of Tampa Bay Rowdies.

He also helped the current owners of Bologna buy the club and worked as a director at the Italian club.

Speaking about the appointment, Shilen Patel said: “Andrew brings experiences from working across all aspects of football club operations and doing so in various parts of the world.

“He aligns with and will implement Bilkul’s philosophies around running a competitive and sustainable club in a global marketplace.

“He has been driving the change in Albion’s short and long-term strategy along with its philosophy this summer and has been at the forefront of our work with the EFL before and after Bilkul’s acquisition of the club.”

Ashish Patel, who is Bilkul’s COO, reacted to the news on X, saying: “I have had the opportunity to work with Andrew over the last few years even before Bilkul was formed. Incredible background/experience in football and an even better person!”

West Brom fans seem delighted with Nestor appointment

Shilen Patel flew into the UK on Thursday morning to attend an Albion Assembly meeting before officially welcoming Nestor to the club’s board.

He’s then set to attend West Brom versus Leeds on Saturday as Carlos Corberan’s men play their first home game of the new Championship season [Express & Star].

Looking at social media, fans are delighted with the arrival of Nestor.

His work in helping Bologna return to Serie A and begin to establish themselves as one of the strongest teams in Italy no doubt helps fans take to the appointment but it’s also good to see Patel bringing in close allies to help with the running of the Championship club.

In other West Brom news, the club has signed an “exciting” 23-year-old Welsh forward.
