Carlos Corberan rumours at West Brom torn to shreds on live radio – ‘Ridiculous, nonsense’
Steve Hermon has blasted rumours that Carlos Corberan is set to exit West Brom, labelling the speculation “ridiculous” and “nonsense”.
The Baggies continued their impressive start to the Championship season with a 0-0 draw against last season’s play-off finalists Leeds United on Saturday (17 August) after a week of speculation in and around The Hawthorns.
It had been suggested that Corberan had been left frustrated by Albion’s transfer business [Chris Lepkowski, 4 August], but speculation also fired up among fans on social media saying that the Spaniard was set to leave.
However, BBC Radio WM commentator Hermon has put those rumours to bed.
Speaking on BBC Radio WM on Saturday (17 August, 13:03) he said: “There were ridiculous rumours about him leaving last week.
“That was absolute nonsense. It’s a challenge for Carlos Corberan but he is up for it.”

There has been so much chat around Corberan’s position throughout the summer after the Spaniard was linked with the Leicester City job [John Percy, 3 June], but there is confidence that he is happy to remain at The Hawthorns.
Yes, the Baggies boss would have definitely liked a few more additions to his playing squad over the transfer window and he won’t have been happy to have lost key players, but that doesn’t mean he will jump ship.
He knew this job was going to be a challenge when he took over from Steve Bruce and while he would have hoped this summer would have been easier after the takeover, that shift was never going to be instantaneous.
Of course, things can change incredibly quickly in the world of football and should a Premier League team come knocking for his services, Corberan and the Baggies may then have a decision to make.
Until that happens, however, it seems unlikely he will be walking away from West Brom. He has a job to do at The Hawthorns and as Hermon states, he is more than “up for it”.
