West Brom make approach to sign top-flight centre-forward Strandberg

West Brom have enquired about the possibility of signing centre-forward Carlos Strandberg from Turkish top-flight side Hatayspor, according to West Brom Xtra.

The emerging online Baggies source posted on X [18 August] that no formal talks have yet taken place over a deal for the 28-year-old.

However, it is claimed that the initial steps have been taken to find out more about Strandberg’s availability as transfer deadline day fast approaches.

West Brom must get next signing spot on

Albion have made a positive start to the new Championship campaign with four points from games with QPR and Leeds United.

That has lifted some of the gloom around The Hawthorns on the back of a disappointing period in which three regulars were sold.

Those that have come in are mainly untested or unknown, but they each look like they could fit in very nicely over time.

Even with the restrictions in place, Shilen Patel will hopefully sign off on one more transfer before the window closes for business on 30 August.

A new striker would be very welcome, but Strandberg is not exactly a player many fans – if any – will be familiar with.

The 28-year-old has been here, there and everywhere so far across his career and has never truly been prolific.

If this is the player the club have identified as a cheap alternative to Brandon Thomas-Asante, though, then supporters must back that choice.

Whoever it is that comes in over the next fortnight – if anyone – they will have the full support of the fanbase.

In other West Brom news, Leeds fans are eager to see Carlos Corberan return to Elland Road.
