West Brom to confirm another striker exit as Walsall move emerges ahead of transfer deadline

Reyes Cleary is now on his way out of West Brom ahead of the transfer deadline on loan, according to Lewis Cox.

The Express & Star journalist reported via X on 19 August that the young forward will be departing the Albion temporarily for the first time in order to gain “vital regular senior experience”, with confirmation to come “soon”.

Baggies outlet DOOD subsequently reported via X on 19 August that League Two side Walsall are the expected destination.

Carlos Corberan has already seen Brandon Thomas-Asante leave for a local rival in Coventry City this summer.

Reyes Cleary set for West Brom loan departure for game time

Cleary departing may be one of the less painful moves of a summer in which the financial restrictions have arguably been more evident than ever before.

The 20-year-old has only made seven senior West Brom appearances despite injury crises at the position and is yet to score a goal for the first team.

Modou Faal spent the second half of last term on loan at Walsall so his fellow Baggies youngster would likely fill the spot left by his return to The Hawthorns this summer.

Corberan has so far secured four points from six to start the Championship campaign amid all the uncertainty, with Josh Maja returning from injury hell last season to net a hat-trick on the opening day at QPR.

The Albion have done decent work to restock in attack on a budget, with neither Mikey Johnston or Andi Weimann returning after their loans ending, although both Lewis Dobbin or Devante Cole have yet to establish themselves.

But Karlan Grant is also back after his own loan to Cardiff City and could be important, if he stays past the transfer deadline when the entire squad remains a moveable feast up until that point.

In other West Brom news, Shilen Patel was delighted for one player’s start to the campaign after major hardship.
