Uros Racic availability update shared ahead of Stoke City v West Brom
West Brom have completed the signing of Uros Racic in time for the midfielder to be selected for the match against Stoke City, according to westbrom.fc.
Writing on their X account [22 August], the Baggies news outlet reported the Serbian is likely to travel with the squad to the bet365 stadium this weekend.
Racic is up to match fitness after enduring a pre-season campaign at Sassuolo and has been in England for a few days awaiting official confirmation, touring the West Brom facilities on Monday [19 August].
West Brom receive Uros Racic boost ahead of Stoke City clash
Carlos Corberan has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2024/25 Championship season. A Josh Maja hat-trick secured a 3-1 win against Queens Park Rangers on the opening day before a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Leeds United at The Hawthorns.
All signs are positive for the Baggies, who are making improvements on and off the pitch, with Martin Drury joining the backroom staff from Manchester United and all but putting an end to speculation linking Corberan with a Hawthorns exit this season.
Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt have started both matches this season as the central midfield pairing and will be expected to start on Saturday [24 August], with Racic settling for a place on the bench.
The 26-year-old, at 6ft 3in, has all the tools to become an instant success in England and fill the void left by Okay Yokuslu.
It would be foolish to push Racic into the deep end with a start against Stoke. Molumby and Mowatt have earned their starting berths and the Serbian will have to compete with the pair for a spot in Corberan’s side.
West Brom fans will be ecstatic with the arrival of Racic and will want to see him feature in some capacity against Stoke.
They may have to wait a bit longer to see their new man in action but he will certainly play a big part this season in helping the Baggies push for Premier League promotion.
