West Brom to instantly strengthen with multiple Premier League loans
West Brom can instantly strengthen their squad by bringing in a couple of players from Premier League clubs, according to Don Goodman.
The Baggies are expected to be active in the final few days of the summer transfer window, which officially closes at 11pm on 30 August.
Albion lost a number of key players on the back of last season, but the club have recruited well and have started the season in great form.
Asked if the current crop is still weaker than it was a few months ago, Goodman told West Brom News: “I don’t think you can fully judge it until the window is closed.
“West Brom might be able to go out and get two or three top young Premier League talents that will slot straight into the starting line-up, and all of a sudden they’re stronger than they were last season.
“It’s impossible really, and not fair, to try to ascertain whether the current squad is weaker or stronger than before.”
West Brom could do with one or two new signings
Albion have tried their very best to replace the likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante, Cedric Kipre, Okay Yokuslu and Co. and the first couple of weeks of the campaign have been encouraging.
However, that is not to say Carlos Corberan will not want a couple more new faces through the door before the window closes for the next four months.
The good news is that there seems to be plenty of activity behind the scenes in terms of incoming activity. Ipswich Town forward Ali Al-Hamadi is wanted on loan [DOOD, 26 August], which is one of a couple of possible loan arrivals.
As Goodman says, poaching players from Premier League clubs could be a quick way to instantly make the West Brom squad more competitive.
Al-Hamadi, for example, played for promotion-winning Ipswich in the Championship last season and has already featured in the Premier League this term.
The promise of regular starts could sway both him and Ipswich to consider a loan exit, however, and there is no better place than The Hawthorns.
Supporters will be updating their news feeds in the hope of more signings. Let’s just hope Shilen Patel gives Corberan the full backing he deserves.
In other West Brom news, Goodman is “staggered” by something he has seen from Albion supporters.
