West Brom are preparing a new £700,000 bid for Preston North End striker Will Keane, according to DOOD.

The Baggies insider provided the update via X on Monday (26 August). It comes after The Sun reported (26 August, page 47) that the club were preparing a £500,000 bid for Keane.

Preston have already rejected an opening offer from West Brom for the striker (via George Hodgson, 21 August).

West Brom to sign Preston North End striker Will Keane?

It remains to be seen whether or not Preston will be tempted by the Baggies' £700,000 offer for Keane, should it indeed be lodged.

However, if he were to move to The Hawthorns, it would be a big boost for Carlos Corberan and West Brom's promotion aspirations. The Baggies have made a fine start to the season and will be keen to continue their bright run of form.

They are so far unbeaten in the Championship after three matches, with Josh Maja leading the line effectively, scoring four goals thus far during the current campaign.

While the 25-year-old is on fire at the moment, he can't do it all alone. Maja needs some support in the attacking areas if the Baggies are to mount a serious promotion charge.

Therefore, bringing an experienced player like Keane to the club would be a smart bit of business.

However, this transfer won't be easy to pull off, and time is running out.
