West Brom respond as Southampton submit bid for Tom Fellows – John Percy

West Brom have rejected an opening £10million bid by Southampton for Tom Fellows, according to John Percy.

The Telegraph journalist reported on Tuesday (27 August) that Albion deem Southampton’s offer as “well below” the 21-year-old’s market value.

It is understood that the Baggies will demand a “big fee” for the English winger, who has started the Championship season with three assists in as many games.

West Brom in last-ditch battle to keep Tom Fellows

Albion had to fight off late interest in players last summer and it seems the same is happening again as cash-rich Premier League clubs aim to rip off Championship sides with lowball bids.

No one at The Hawthorns was ever going to entertain a £10million bid for Fellows, who is arguably one of the best English attackers of his age outside of the Premier League.

Last season, he burst onto the scene in the Black Country and he’s since started the new season in superb form with a two vital assists to help Albion win 2-1 at Stoke on Saturday.

Fellows is easily worth at least double what Southampton are bidding for him based on how much young English attackers go for these days.

If it wasn’t for the Baggies’ PSR issues, there’s no way any club would dream of offering what the south coast club have.
