West Brom make approach to sign relative of Championship manager

West Brom have enquired about signing Lorient winger Théo Le Bris, according to the Express and Star.

The news outlet reported online (27 August) that the French forward has been on the Baggies’ radar this summer.

However, it is understood that a move will progress no further. Le Bris has played 57 times for Lorient since bursting onto the first-team scene in 2021, and he is under contract with the Ligue 1 outfit until 2027.

His uncle, Régis Le Bris, managed Lorient before moving to Sunderland this summer.

This would have been a useful signing for Carlos Corberan and the Baggies. Le Bris has plenty of first-team experience playing in France, which might have proved beneficial had he moved to The Hawthorns.

Corberan will be keen for the Baggies to sign another forward before the transfer window slams shut on Friday (30 August).

Brandon Thomas-Asante has yet to be properly replaced since the striker moved to the Baggies’ Championship rivals Coventry City.

Josh Maja has done well leading the line for Corberan’s side, scoring four times in his opening three Championship matches.

However, he won’t be able to do it alone, and if the club want to make a serious promotion push, bringing in another forward might be necessary.

There are still a few days left for the club to make some moves. However, it doesn’t seem as though Le Bris will be joining his uncle in the Championship.
