Jed Wallace could seal late West Brom exit, two clubs in ‘serious’ hunt for deal

West Brom captain Jed Wallace could seal a late West Brom exit before the 30 August transfer deadline, according to Dood.

The Albion transfer source reported via X on Wednesday (28 August) that the winger is one to keep an eye on in the final days of the window with two as-yet-unnamed clubs showing a “serious” interest in his signature.

Wallace is yet to start a game for the Baggies this season, having missed the opening two weeks of the campaign with injury but has been used as a second-half substitute in each of the last two matches.

Reports earlier in the transfer window had suggested that the 30-year-old could be part of a trio of stars to exit The Hawthorns before the end of August, alongside Jayson Molumby and John Swift [Chris Lepkwoski, 4 August].

Will Jed Wallace exit West Brom amid Hawthorns transfer rumours?

While Wallace is a popular figure around The Hawthorns, the Baggies’ current financial fair play position means that selling the winger could make sense if the right offer is to arrive before the window slams shut.

Albion are keen to bolster their ranks out wide before the 30 August deadline, with reports suggesting they are aiming to hijack Sheffield United’s move for former West Brom loanee Mikey Johnston [Alan Nixon, 28 August].

If Carlos Corberan’s side manage to pull off that deal and keep Tom Fellows at The Hawthorns amid Premier League interest, it is hard to see when Wallace will play regularly, particularly now that Karlan Grant is back in the picture.

Of course, Albion will not let him walk away for nothing. The fee will have to be right for any exit to be sanctioned so late in the summer’s proceedings, but a transfer simply cannot be ruled out.

This could well be one to watch right until the last minutes of deadline day as at this stage of the window, things can change in an instant.
