Mikey Johnston has travelled for his West Brom medical ahead of signing a four-year deal, according to the Express and Star.
The newspaper reported on 29 August that the 25-year-old travelled to the Midlands on Wednesday night (28 August) ahead of his medical tests at the Hawthorns.
Once this is completed, the Ireland international will sign a four year deal with the Baggies after a £3million deal was agreed with Celtic.
Mikey Johnston set to sign for West Brom from Celtic
This will be one deal that will excite Albion fans no end, especially with the transfer window slamming shut in the coming days.
Johnston was electric under Carlos Corberan during his loan spell last campaign which made it seem that his future lay away from the Hawthorns.
After just featuring just once for Celtic in their opening three Scottish Premiership fixtures, a move away makes sense.
The deal has certainly come out of the blue for supporters, coming so soon after a £2.5m deal was agreed with Sheffield United [Alan Nixon].
It appears that the Baggies have stepped in and offered a higher fee that the Glasgow giants have opted to accept ahead of the Blades.
Bringing Johnston back represents a real coup Corberan’s side who have started the season in positive circumstances.
It is safe to say that the return of the Irishman is only going to be a boost to the club which will help them excel even further.
