Wrexham in advanced talks with West Brom over deadline-busting Mo Faal transfer
West Brom are in advanced talks with Wrexham regarding the permanent transfer of striker Mo Faal, according to DOOD.
The Baggies news outlet reported on their X account [29 August] that Wrexham look set to see off competition from Barnsley to the signing of Faal.
Faal looked set to complete his sixth loan spell away from The Hawthorns with Barnsley before interest in a permanent move emerged from Wrexham as Carlos Corberan gave the green light to end his five-year stint in Birmingham.
West Brom to sell Mo Faal to Wrexham
The 21-year-old had his chance to impress Corberan in pre-season but has failed to impress the West Brom boss and a permanent move is the best outcome for all parties.
He spent last term with Doncaster Rovers and Walsall and scored a combined 13 goals in 45 League Two appearances across the two loan spells.
Another temporary exit from The Hawthorns would have been no benefit to either the club or player and the jury is out on whether Faal can impact the side this season.
Josh Maja has been in sensational form at the start of the Championship campaign, filling the void left by Brandon Thomas-Asante who departed for Coventry City, with four goals in three appearances.

With Daryl Dike still recovering from a long-term injury, Faal had the best opportunity of his Baggies career to force himself into the first-team plans. However, Corberan is seemingly happy to allow the Gambian to leave and pursue an alternative deputy up top.
West Brom are preparing his departure with a move for Preston North End forward Will Keane [DOOD] to boost their promotion aspirations with a proven EFL goalscorer.
Faal to Keane would be a significant upgrade for the Baggies, and once Dike returns to the first-team fold, the side will be brimming with attacking talent to fire the club to Premier League promotion this season.
