Jed Wallace transfer update from West Brom ahead of 11pm deadline
West Brom captain Jed Wallace is set to stay at The Hawthorns amid Championship transfer interest, according to DOOD.
The Albion news source posted on X [30 August] with the latest update on the 30-year-old, who had been heavily linked with Luton Town and his former club Portsmouth.
It is understood whilst there was significant interest, neither club lodged a bid which means Wallace is set to remain with Carlos Corberan’s side.
DOOD responded to a fan question by sharing: “They never made a bid in the end. So at the moment Wallace is staying.”
West Brom set to keep Jed Wallace
It would be a wise decision for West Brom to keep hold of Wallace – his dressing room persona and articulate, approachable manner make him key around the squad.
Even if he is not Corberan’s first choice in attack every week, the club captain plays such a pivotal role that to lose him on transfer deadline day to a league rival would be inexplicable.
Make no mistake – he would be a useful addition to any Championship side, and Portsmouth and Luton’s interest is easy to understand, but Wallace certainly adds plenty off the pitch.
His terms of his role on the field, he remains very effective. He plays with agility, tenacity and nous, and could serve to be integral following news of Grady Diangana’s new injury issue.
Corberan will be happy to keep his skipper around the place, amid a great start to the current season, and having lost so many experienced heads over the summer months.
