West Brom push for deadline-busting striker transfer after Mason Holgate update
West Brom are pushing to secure a deadline-busting transfer for a new striker in the final moments of the transfer window, according to DOOD.
The Baggies transfer specialist reported via X on Friday (30 August) that the Baggies’ loan deal for Everton defender Mason Holgate is done and Carlos Corberan’s side has turned their attention to one more late addition.
Albion have been in the market for a new forward for much of the summer transfer window after Brandon Thomas-Asante completed a move to Coventry City earlier in the summer.
Are West Brom close to any new signings ahead of the transfer deadline?
A new striker would be the icing on the cake of what has been an excellent window for the Baggies after last season’s heartbreaking playoff final semifinal defeat to Southampton.
Mikey Johnston has returned to The Hawthorns on a permanent basis, Tom Fellows doesn’t appear to be going anywhere, and the midfield and defence have been bolstered. The only thing missing is a number nine at the top of the pitch.
Whether or not those in charge at West Brom will be able to get a deal for a new striker over the line so close to the deadline remains unclear. Time is running out for the Baggies to bolster their ranks and it will take something special for it to happen.
However, Holgate’s move to the midlands came completely out of nowhere and there is nothing to suggest that the same won’t happen when it comes to a new centre-forward.
Whatever happens, it is clear Albion fans shouldn’t be heading to bed until the window is shut and all developments at The Hawthorns are concluded.
