Richard Keys moots ‘big problems’ for West Brom live on air today
Richard Keys highlighted “big problems” for West Brom off the field during the 1-0 win against Swansea City on Saturday [31 August].
The Baggies continued their unbeaten start to the 2024/25 Championship campaign thanks to a first-half stoppage-time goal by Jayson Molumby.
Andy Gray lauded West Brom for their first-half performance live on beIN SPORTS 1 [31 August, 3:56] at half-time, in which Keys pointed to a problem that could haunt the Baggies this season.
He said: “You know West Brom’s biggest problem this year? It’s finances. There are one or two big problems coming out there. But on the field they’re doing well.”
West Brom could be held back this season
Carlos Corberan has enjoyed an excellent start to the new Championship season and his side look a genuine contender for promotion this year.
The Baggies have recorded victories over Queens Park Rangers, Stoke City and now Swansea, and sit second in the league table behind Sunderland.
Shilen Patel will hope the side continues their form throughout the campaign as Premier League promotion becomes a necessity rather than a luxury.

West Brom recorded a loss of £11million for the 2022/23 financial year and the situation is expected to worsen, with predicted losses of upwards of £26m when the new figures are released next year [The Far Post].
Not to mention the club’s issues with Profit and Sustainability rules, which led to the sales of Okay Yokuslu, Conor Townsend and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
The riches of promotion will go a long way to help steady the ship at The Hawthorns and could determine the club’s long-term future as they navigate treacherous financial waters.
