Jed Wallace makes West Brom admission after ‘outstanding’ win v Swansea

West Brom were “outstanding” in their Championship victory over Swansea City on 31 August, according to Jed Wallace.

The Albion winger posted on X (1 September) in response to the club’s own post at full-time of their match at The Hawthorns on Saturday, won 1-0 thanks to Jayson Molumby’s goal in first-half stoppage time.

The victory continued Albion’s unbeaten start to the new campaign and saw them climb to second in the Championship table with 10 points from a possible 12, as the season pauses for the international break.

Wallace said in his post on X: “Another positive step. Long season ahead but a good start, outstanding everyone – see you after the break.”

Jed Wallace will be glad to stay at West Brom after transfer saga

It looked as if Carlos Corberan would be making a new captaincy appointment in the days before the transfer window closed on 30 August, with Luton and Portsmouth formerly keen on signing the winger [The News Portsmouth, 30 August].

Neither club were able to seal a late move for the 30-year-old though despite Luton tabling a possible seven-figure fee to the Baggies [WBA Report, 29 August], and thus Wallace is staying put to help lead Albion’s promotion push.

Wallace is yet to start a match this season with the increasingly impressive Tom Fellows making the right wing spot his own, but the Baggies captain still has a role to play in Corberan’s new-look squad.

The Spaniard has brought in nine new faces at The Hawthorns, as well as welcoming back two familiar faces in Mikey Johnston and Mason Holgate, and the rebuilding process looks to be a success so far.

Tougher times in the fight for promotion are undoubtedly set to come for Albion, and as Wallace prepares for the “long season ahead”, he’ll know he has to make a significant impact whenever he’s on the pitch.
