Carlos Corberan to push for Aaron Connolly transfer to solve West Brom issue
West Brom and Carlos Corberan need a striker and Aaron Connolly is available.
The Baggies have made an incredible start to the season.
Supporters at The Hawthorns couldn’t have asked for much more with the club sitting second in the Championship, unbeaten after four matches.
Josh Maja in particular has been on fire for Corberan’s side, netting four times and providing one assist in four outings.
However, there is still an incredibly long way to go in the Championship season, and if West Brom want to make a real promotion push, they might need some support in the attacking areas.
Following Brandon Thomas-Asante’s move to Coventry City, the Baggies are a bit light up top, with the transfer window now shut.
However, while the club aren’t able to go and sign a striker from a fellow Championship rival, they could look to sign a player without a club, with Connolly’s name in particular standing out as a realistic option.
Carlos Corberan to push for Aaron Connolly transfer at West Brom?
Hull City confirmed via the club’s official website earlier this year (18 May) that Connolly would be leaving the club upon the expiration of his contract.
And the 24-year-old is still without a club, something which Corberan should look to push Shilen Patel into fixing for the forward.
Despite only starting 13 matches during the 2023/24 Championship season, Connolly was still able to find the back of the net eight times across 28 appearances.
Overall he has 12 goals in 52 Championship appearances, as well as experience playing in the Premier League. While his numbers aren’t exactly ground-breaking, it is his experience which could prove useful to Corberan.
As well as his exploits at club level, the striker is a full international, having represented the Republic of Ireland nine times.

In addition, he is still only 24, which means his best years might be ahead of him. If he were to join West Brom, Corberan could help him discover the best form of his career to date, with the 41-year-old having so far worked wonders during his time at The Hawthorns.
Most importantly the transfer would be free, and therefore low risk. Connolly wouldn’t need to become the club’s main source of goals, he would just need to chip in for the Baggies and help them achieve their promotion ambitions.
As a result, this is a transfer which Corberan should be pushing for.
In other West Brom news, another free transfer could be on the cards at The Hawthorns.
