Paddy McNair handed perfect chance to win over West Brom boss Carlos Corberan
Paddy McNair will hope to impress Carlos Corberan on international duty with Northern Ireland to earn a starting role for West Brom.
The Green and White Army kick off their Nations League campaign on Thursday (5 September) against Luxembourg at Windsor Park.
Baggies summer signing McNair was afforded a call-up for his country despite having a slow start to his career at The Hawthorns.
The 29-year-old will be dreaming of a positive showing for Michael O’Neill’s side to help cement himself a regular role under Corberan in the West Midlands.
Paddy McNair must make West Brom claim with Northern Ireland showing
The former Manchester United defender completed a move to the Baggies earlier in the window, on a loan deal until December 31 from San Diego FC.
This gives the versatile defence and midfield option limited time to impress in the Black Country before he returns to the debuting MLS side.
With that being said, featuring for his country could provide him with the opportunity to show what he could offer in the Championship.
His call-up comes after just one appearance for West Brom, playing 61 minutes in the EFL Cup defeat to Fleetwood Town [FotMob].
The ex-Middlesbrough star is yet to feature in the league under Corberan but could help his chances for game time with a top performance against Luxembourg.

Although this won’t be the be-all and end-all for McNair, it presents him with an opportunity to showcase his talents to Corberan, who will likely be watching from afar.
The Northern Irishman has the opportunity to boost his chances as best as possible ahead of a short spell at The Hawthorns.
