Jayson Molumby will return to West Brom somewhat fresh after being the first player to be substituted in the Republic of Ireland's 2-0 loss to Greece.

It was a mixed game for Molumby on a poor night for his country (10 September) with the Albion star given a 7/10 rating by the Irish Mirror, who pointed out his "excellent long-range passes" and hard work.

The Irish Independent also thought Molumby warranted the same rating, making note of his "fine passing range", but also adding that the midfielder was "frustrated" as he was taken off for Evan Ferguson.

Molumby's 63rd-minute substitution was also noted by Balls.ie, who rated the Baggies man at just 4/10, saying that while he "battled well in midfield", the 25-year-old had less impact on the game than Alan Browne despite playing further up the pitch.

Jayson Molumby will be glad to make West Brom return

It's fair to say that Molumby and his Irish teammates have had an international break to forget, with back-to-back 2-0 losses leaving them joint-bottom of their UEFA Nations League group.

The midfielder's fondness for a reckless yellow card didn't dissipate on international duty either – particularly against England, where the "limited" performance was slammed by Irish fans.

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan
Carlos Corberan will want to see Jayson Molumby getting back to his best at West Brom

That's a stark contrast to Molumby's form at The Hawthorns so far this season, with Carlos Corberan's Baggies side unbeaten in the Championship and sitting second in the table after four matches.

Molumby slid in to score the winner in the last league match against Swansea, and he'll certainly be hoping to put a poor international break behind him and pick up from where he left off at his club.

With a long away trip to Portsmouth coming in the Baggies' first game back after the break, Corberan will be keen to see Molumby put his international frustrations behind him on the south coast.
