Mikey Johnston transfer speaks volumes about Carlos Corberan as West Brom promotion verdict dropped
Dan Bardell believes that Carlos Corberan could guide West Brom to promotion after completing the signing of Mikey Johnston.
The winger signed from Celtic on deadline day in a move that was met with plenty of excitement from supporters after excelling on loan after joining in January last campaign.
Since confirming his transfer to The Hawthorns, the 25-year-old has revealed that he feels a return “was the right option” [The Express & Star].
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that the Ireland international’s return could help the Baggies to promotion under Corberan.
Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Bardell said: “I think it speaks volumes for the manager.
“He has made West Brom an attractive proposition for players, Johnston clearly wanted to go back there. He wanted to play under him again and push towards promotion which is possible with him joining.
“I think they’ve got an excellent chance of going up when you look at their squad now, they’ve got to be one of the favourites.“

It initially looked like it was going to be a difficult window when Brandon Thomas Asante left.
Albion made some excellent signings, though, with the likes of Uros Racic and Torbjorn Heggem starting their spell with the club in positive fashion.
Supporters will be hoping for the same with Johnston, who returned after a superb six-month loan spell last season in an exciting deadline-day deal.
Johnston has the talent and ability to be among the leading players in the league and having a player of his calibre available certainly enhances their chances of promotion.
The early form needs to be kept up and if it is there is no doubt that the Baggies will be up there at the end of the campaign.
