Carlos Corberan names West Brom XI to face Portsmouth in Championship

Carlos Corberan has named an unchanged West Brom XI for the fifth game in a row as the Baggies face Portsmouth on Sunday (15 September).

The Albion are yet to lose in the Championship campaign, and Corberan has full faith in the squad who has earned 10 points out of 12.

A win against Pompey will see the Black Country club jump to the top of the table, with Sunderland unable to continue their winning streak against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (14 September).

New signings Mason Holgate and Mikey Johnston are both on the bench, as the Spanish manager has strength in depth all over the pitch.

How will West Brom fair against Portsmouth?

The Baggies will be looking to capitalise on Sunderland’s loss by beating Portsmouth to jump to first place in the Championship.

Their opponents have managed three draws and a loss in their first four games, so will be desperate to find their first win, though West Brom are proving to be a tough opponent.

Defensively, Corberan’s side have only conceded two goals, getting the better of QPR and Stoke City, with Kyle Bartley captaining the squad.

Pompey on the other hand, have conceded eight, although they have scored the same amount as the Albion, so they know where the back of the net is.

Callum Lang and Christian Saydee will be the players to keep an eye on for the Baggies, both of which have bagged two this season.

If they can keep them quiet, then the Fratton Park crowd will follow suit, as the Hampshire club sees its fourth home game of the season in the Championship.
