Carlos Corberan release clause emerges as Leeds United eye West Brom manager
Carlos Corberan’s current contract at West Brom includes a £2million release clause, according to Football Insider.
The online source reported [18 September] that Leeds United are keeping tabs on the Spaniard, who is a well-respected figure at Elland Road after being Marcelo Bielsa’s former assistant.
It is understood that several teams in the Championship are interested in Corberan’s signature, though his current deal at The Hawthorns runs until 2027.
Carlos Corberan release clause emerges at West Brom
Losing Corberan to another Championship club would be an absolute travesty for the Baggies, who have begun the 2024/25 campaign in brilliant style.
It has also been suggested the Spaniard could even transition his managerial skills over to a team as big as Real Madrid [The Football League Paper], and fans at The Hawthorns would likely agree.
He has worked wonders during his time with the Baggies, and that looks to be continuing into the new Championship season, with the Midlands club sitting top of the league table after five matches.
Despite losing several key players during the summer transfer window – striker Brandon Thomas-Asante, Conor Townsend and Okay Yokuslu among them – the Baggies have still managed to pick up 13 points from a possible 15.
If Corberan can lead the club to Premier League promotion, albeit very early in the campaign, it is difficult to see him leaving his post at The Hawthorns anytime soon despite so much interest from other clubs.

Leeds are also looking to secure promotion back to the top tier, and with Daniel Farke coming under some pressure at Elland Road, targeting Corberan does not sound like the most unlikely of outcomes.
However, with the Spaniard’s deal running until 2027, Leeds will need to splash the cash to replace Farke at the helm, while the Baggies need to agree a new deal with the manager without the release clause.
