Don Goodman names perfect club for Tom Fellows amid West Brom exit talk

West Brom News Speaking to Don Goodman

West Brom News is delighted to have Don Goodman joining its team of Albion experts at the start of 2024. Goodman played for the Baggies between 1987 and 1991, scoring 60 goals in 140 league appearances to make him one of the most prolific strikers in Hawthorns history. Goodman also played for Bradford, Sunderland, Wolves, Motherwell and Walsall in his career and since hanging up his boots, he's been working in the media with Sky Sports. Now, Don has agreed to join West Brom News and we're absolutely thrilled to share his expertise on the Baggies every week.

Don Goodman insists West Brom remain the ideal club for Tom Fellows at this stage in his career amid talk of interest from Ipswich Town.

Ipswich were in advanced talks over a deal for Fellows in the closing stages of the summer transfer window [Football Insider].

However, the proposed £11million transfer did not go through and Fellows will remain at The Hawthorns until at least January when the window reopens.

In the view of Goodman, Fellows is a Premier League player in waiting, but there is no need to rush a move away from Albion.

"He seems really grounded when I've listened to him in interviews," Goodman told West Brom News. "Right now, West Brom is the perfect place for him to develop further, under the perfect coach in Carlos Corberan.

"If I'm Tom Fellows, while it's good to be ambitious, at this stage I'm just focusing on having a really good season for West Bromwich Albion and then seeing what happens at the end of the season.

"West Brom may be in the Premier League by then, or there may be other interest. I have no doubt in predicting he will be a Premier League player in the not-too-distant future."

West Brom have a gem in Tom Fellows

Baggies fans were rightly annoyed when news emerged of Ipswich Town's interest late in the summer transfer window.

For whatever reason, though, the deal did not go through in what was a massive boost for Corberan in his bid to guide Albion to promotion.

The talk surrounding Fellows coincided with Mikey Johnston returning to the club on a permanent basis, with the pair two of the finest around in their position in the division.

Fellows already has four assists for the season in five Championship outings, and he will undoubtedly only get better.

The England Under-21s international will indeed be a Premier League player in the next 18 months or so, but let's just hope that is with West Bromwich Albion.
