West Brom v Plymouth Argyle predicted XI: Carlos Corberan to drop John Swift

West Brom will be looking to continue their flying start to the season when they play host to Plymouth Argyle on 21 September.

Carlos Corberan has successfully managed to build on last campaign’s performances and his Baggies side sit atop the table.

They have won four games and drawn one of their opening five in the Championship and are one among three sides to still be undefeated in England’s second tier.

Mikey Johnston may come in place of John Swift for West Brom

It’s wise to not fix something that isn’t broken but Corberan may be tempted to bring in Mikey Johnston to the fold.

The Ireland international moved to the Hawthorns on a permanent basis this summer after a successful loan spell in January.

The 25-year-old bagged seven goals and provided an assist in 18 league games and played a key role in guiding the Baggies to the play-offs.

While he operated primarily off the wings, Karlan Grant and Tom Fellows appear to be in red-hot form so he could come in for John Swift.

It’s not that Swift’s displays have been bad, but this change could be Corberan keeping things fresh and giving his squad game time in order to keep them match fit.

West Brom appear to have found the right squad balance

Apart from this, the rest of the team pretty much picks itself and Lewis Dobbin will certainly need to show while coming off the bench why he deserves to start ahead of Josh Maja.

Torbjorn Heggem, a centre-back by trade, has enjoyed a good run at left-back and Carlos Corberan has no reason to change anything.

Alex Mowatt will be looking to build on his two-goal performance against Pompey with another solid display against Plymouth.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies will certainly be on high alert as a chance to seal a new free agent transfer may still be on the cards.
