West Brom title verdict revealed in supercomputer final position prediction
West Brom are now predicted to win the Championship title after the 3-0 win against Portsmouth, according to The Opta Analyst.
The supercomputer updates the predictions after each fixture and the Baggies have now emerged as favourites to win the Championship with five matches of the campaign played.
Carlos Corberan’s side have won four and drawn one of those five fixtures and sit at the top of the table after the victory at Fratton Park on Sunday [15 September], which came courtesy of a goal from Josh Maja and an Alex Mowatt brace.
West Brom are predicted to end on 82 points, three points clear of Leeds United in second place, and currently have a 36.92 per cent chance of winning the title, 58.26 per cent chance of automatic promotion, and 33.20 per cent chance of promotion via the playoffs.
West Brom on course for Championship success
The Baggies are one of three unbeaten sides at the start of the campaign alongside Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United, having stolen an early march on their promotion rivals.
There is plenty of Championship football left to be played this season and plenty of twists and turns to be served along the way, but there is no doubt that Corberan has turned his side into genuine contenders for Premier League promotion.
Last term was a case of so close yet so far as the club fell to Southampton in the play-off semi-finals, their first appearance since suffering relegation from the top flight in the 2020/21 season.
The players have certainly stepped up to right the wrongs of their playoff disappointment, particularly Josh Maja, who scored his fifth goal of the season at Portsmouth and has filled the void left by Brandon Thomas-Asante who scored for his new side Coventry City against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.

Corberan has also become the subject of interest from Championship rivals Leeds after their underwhelming start to the season, as well as Premier League strugglers Everton [The Express] as Sean Dyche faces an uncertain future at Goodison Park.
West Brom will need to do everything in their power to keep the current crop of players and the manager together, to turn the Championship title prediction into a reality.
