West Brom fans blast Lewis Dobbin after win v Plymouth – ‘Go back to Aston Villa’
Lewis Dobbin has come under fire from West Brom supporters following the Baggies’ 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle.
Carlos Corberan’s side extended their unbeaten start to the Championship season as they claimed all three points at The Hawthorns on Saturday (21 September) thanks to Josh Maja’s second-half strike.
The Baggies have claimed an exceptional 16 points from their opening six league games this season to sit pretty at the top of the Championship table, one point ahead of Sunderland who lost to Argyle at Home Park.
What happened to Lewis Dobbin in West Brom v Plymouth Argyle?
Although Albion were in control for the majority of the game at The Hawthorns, Dobbin’s 12-minute cameo from the bench left more than a bit to be desired and fans were quick to take to social media to voice their frustrations.
One supporter said: “He really is poor, can see him going back in Jan” while another simply labelled the Aston Villa loanee “Bobbins”.
West Brom moved quickly to bolster their attacking options this summer following the departure of Brandon Thomas-Asante, but the last-minute business at The Hawthorns has almost made Dobbin a bit of a spare part.
The 21-year-old is behind Josh Maja in the pecking order as a striker and is now below Tom Fellows, Mikey Johnston, Grady Diangana, Karlan Grant and Jed Wallace when it comes to Corberan’s wide options.
Dobbin is still young and there remains a chance that he could come good in an Albion shirt, but it seems as though the West Brom support have already made up their mind on the forward after just a handful of minutes.
