Carlos Corberan hailed after what’s happened to Alex Mowatt at West Brom

Dan Bardell has championed Carlos Corberan for his impact and ability to improve players at West Brom after Alex Mowatt’s showings this season.

The 29-year-old spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Middlesbrough before returning to The Hawthorns last season where he scored just two goals.

The midfielder has already reached that tally this campaign after a superb brace against Portsmouth to help secure a 3-0 win.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has praised Corberan for his impact to improve Mowatt and others in his spell as Baggies manager.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Bardell said: “It comes down to the manager, doesn’t it?

The sign of a good manager is someone that can make the best out of players who are already at their disposal and that’s what Corberan have done.

As long as he is there West Brom are going to be in with a shout of promotion and the players are going to get better.

It’s testament to the manager to see the likes of Mowatt stepping up when it matters.

Alex Mowatt improved at West Brom under Carlos Corberan

There have been many stars who have been handed a fresh start by the Spaniard and become key players for the Baggies as a result.

No more so than Cedric Kipre who was loaned out to Cardiff City before becoming a star at The Hawthorns last campaign.

This appears to be a similar route for the likes of Karlan Grant and Mowatt with both being regular starters to begin the campaign.

The latter’s double against Pompey was top class and was a visual representation of the confidence flowing through Corberan’s squad right now.
