Carlos Corberan makes admission about West Brom loan star Uroš Račić

Carlos Corberan has backed Uroš Račić to succeed while on loan with West Brom at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies confirmed via the club’s official website (22 August) that they had signed Račić on a season-long loan from Italian side Sassuolo.

Račić has played three times in the Championship for West Brom so far, impressing on his first start as he provided his first assist for the club in the 1-0 win away at Plymouth Argyle (21 September).

And Corberan believes there is still more to come. The Baggies boss said (via Express and Star, 26 September), “I am very pleased with the things that I see.

“I think that he still needs to adapt to the demands and tempo of the Championship. It is not the same to play in Serie A in Italy or in Portugal or in Spain, not more easy or more difficult, but not the same.

“In the Championship, there are a lot of transition games and it is true we brought him in at the end of the market. The more he is with us I think, if he can keep this level of mentality, then the more things he can give us.”

Uroš Račić to shine with West Brom at The Hawthorns?

Račić certainly brings a level of experience to the West Brom squad.

The 26-year-old has made countless appearances in the top flights of Spain, Italy and Portugal. In addition, he has also featured in the UEFA Europa League on 11 occasions and made 12 appearances for the Serbia national team.

Therefore, his arrival on loan would have been quite an exciting one for fans as Corberan’s side look to make a promotion push, and that excitement only increased after his display against Plymouth.

However, the 41-year-old is right to insist that Račić still needs to adapt.

Despite all of this top-flight experience around Europe, the Championship is a different beast altogether.

As a result, fans must be patient. However, the midfielder grabbing a match-winning assist on his first start for the club is a big positive.

It suggests that as he continues to play, he will only improve, and could help the Baggies maintain their bright Championship form and return to the Premier League.
