Carlos Corberan ironic twist possibility outlined should West Brom exit happen

West Brom News Speaking to Don Goodman

West Brom News is delighted to have Don Goodman joining its team of Albion experts at the start of 2024. Goodman played for the Baggies between 1987 and 1991, scoring 60 goals in 140 league appearances to make him one of the most prolific strikers in Hawthorns history. Goodman also played for Bradford, Sunderland, Wolves, Motherwell and Walsall in his career and since hanging up his boots, he's been working in the media with Sky Sports. Now, Don has agreed to join West Brom News and we're absolutely thrilled to share his expertise on the Baggies every week.

Don Goodman has shared an ironic twist that could play out should Carlos Corberan leave West Brom this season.

The Spaniard continues to be linked with a move away from The Hawthorns, with Everton and Southampton the latest to be touted as possible next destinations.

However, with those two sides struggling at the bottom end of the Premier League and the Baggies sitting top of the Championship, Goodman has questioned if it is worth the "gamble" of leaving Albion as they may be a division above those sides next season.

"I've said it before - there's a golden opportunity there for West Brom, or a less fancied side without parachute payments, to go up this season," Goodman told West Brom News.

"The top this season is not as strong as it was before. Carlos Corberan could gamble and join one of those clubs mentioned and he could end up in the Championship next season, while West Brom are in the Premier League - it's not beyond the realms of possibility."

Carlos Corberan can achieve Premier League aim at West Brom

Corberan wants to manage in the Premier League and he will manage in the Premier League one day very soon - hopefully with the Baggies.

There is only so long Albion can keep hold of their talented manager, who has worked wonders during his time in charge.

Despite the financial limitations, Corberan has made Albion an extremely competitive team over the past couple of years and now has them in position to challenge for automatic promotion.

The Hawthorns has been the home of Albion since 1900.

A move to a club like Southampton, say, sounds good on the face of it as it means managing at a higher level.

But the grass is not always greener, and there is no better place for Corberan right now than West Bromwich Albion.
