West Brom fans argue over The Hawthorns as Leeds United plans emerge – ‘Zero sense’

West Brom fans are clashing on social media over whether The Hawthorns should be expanded amid Leeds United’s plans of doing so themselves.

Leeds have announced plans to increase the capacity of Elland Road to 53,000, prompting some Albion supporters to urge their own club to consider building on their stadium to sustain a long-term future in the Premier League.

Some are however against the idea, declaring that an expansion is simply unnecessary and would not see the stadium full.

One fan said “35,000-37-000 should be the target”, whilst another predicts Shilen Patel will “look into it”.

Others, by contrast, have said it makes “zero sense” and claimed the vast number of professional clubs in the region makes it difficult to attract the level of support anywhere near that of Leeds, a one-club city.

The consideration is being taken by West Brom fans with the club topping the Championship table and seeking a return to the Premier League, while Leeds themselves have been linked with a return for their former backroom coach Carlos Corberan from the Baggies.

West Brom fans clash over stadium idea

It’s safe to say Albion supporters did not entirely agree on the idea of expanding The Hawthorns.

Fans took to X to voice their views in response to an initial post claiming the Baggies should follow in the footsteps of Leeds if the club want to demonstrate ambition.

Some backed the concept but many also disagreed, as can be seen here.
