Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara in hysterics after West Brom legend Chris Brunt comparison
Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara laughed after one Everton fan compared Dwight McNeil to former West Brom star Chris Brunt.
The winger scored a brace at Goodison Park as the Toffees beat Crystal Palace 3-2 at Goodison Park on Saturday 28 September.
O’Hara could not believe the comparison, admitting that Brunt was a good player but such a rogue suggestion to come out of nowhere.
The Everton fan called into talkSPORT (28 September, 6:10pm) and compared the Everton ace to former West Brom star and cult hero Brunt.
Reacting to the claim, both Cundy and O’Hara said in unison: “Chris Brunt”, before the latter carried on: “Chris Brunt was a good player but come on… Is he your brother or something?”
Dwight McNeil compared to former West Brom star Chris Brunt
After the Barclaysmen trend on X, there has been plenty of reminiscing about West Brom in the Premier League from fans in recent weeks.
There may not be many more nostalgic players to think of at The Hawthorns than Chris Brunt who had some particular crowning moments.
Ironically, one of his most memorable goals came at Goodison Park as he scored a sensational free-kick against the Toffees back in November 2010.
The former Northern Ireland international had an excellent left foot which is where comparisons to McNeil have been made.
Everton’s winger is well known for preferring to utilise his strong foot which he did against Crystal Palace to pick out the top corner from range.

Given the level of goals that Brunt was able to score throughout his career with the Baggies, this comparison is a compliment.
It was clear to see that Cundy and O’Hara saw it this way with their reaction being somewhat disrespectful to the now 39-year-old who was appointed as a coach at Albion in 2022.
