Carlos Corberan could experiment with Callum Styles after West Brom loss v Middlesbrough

Carlos Corberan could utilise Callum Styles at left-back for West Brom after his performance in the 1-0 defeat against Middlesbrough.

The Baggies fell to their second loss on the bounce against Michael Carrick’s side on Tuesday 1 October.

It was a frustrating night at The Hawthorns where very few clear-cut chances were created by Albion throughout the encounter.

One silver lining of the clash was the performance of Styles who came on late in the second half and made a positive impression.

It has been a stellar start to the campaign for the Spaniard but frustration has crept in amongst fans after the last two showings.

With that being said, it may not be time to do much in the way of tactical changes after two narrow defeats.

Against Middlesbrough, the Baggies had the better of the possession but just couldn’t make it count as they had three fewer shots on target than the away side [FotMob].

Hayden Hackney got the all-important goal on the day which sparked a late onslaught from the home side but the likes of Josh Maja couldn’t make chances count.

Styles came on and made a useful impact which could see Corberan trust him from the start next time out against Millwall on Saturday (5 October).

It has to be said that playing him at left-back would force Torbjorn Heggem out of a position in which he has started the season so well.

Potentially, the Norweigan could slot in at left centre back in place of Kyle Bartley while the Hungary international features on the left.

There is a potential option there which could add some solidity in the midfield and defence after a tricky few games for the likes of Uros Racic and Ousmane Diakite.
