Jed Wallace was the subject of West Brom fans' ire after the 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough on Tuesday (1 October), with the club captain labelled as "finished".

Making his first start of the Championship season in place of Tom Fellows on the right flank, Wallace had two chances to open the scoring in the first half, but put one straight at Seny Dieng and the other wide.

Despite the Baggies barely laying a glove on Boro other than Wallace's attempts, the midfielder was hooked just nine minutes into the second half and Hayden Hackney's goal soon afterwards won it for the visitors.

Jed Wallace slammed by West Brom fans after Middlesbrough loss

Although Wallace was being taken off before Middlesbrough netted their eventual winner at The Hawthorns, him starting ahead of Fellows was lambasted by Baggies fans following the final whistle.

One Albion fan account told Carlos Corberan not to start Wallace again after his Boro display, acknowledging their "love" for the 30-year-old but highlighting Fellows' importance to the side.

Another fan was less sympathetic, calling the performance a "disgrace" and saying both Wallace and John Swift should be "squad players only".

Further criticism followed for Wallace, as well as substitutes Mikey Johnston and Lewis Dobbin, with a fan labelling the former duo as "dreadful" at full-time.

One supporter went even further, telling the club to "send Wallace back to Millwall", and though that's easier said than done, another fan said both Swift and the Albion captain were "finished".

Further instructions not to give Wallace a start followed after his "poor" performance, while another supporter felt as if they saw his below-par display coming, saying "start Wallace [and] that’s what you get, useless".

Corberan's tinkering with his previously unbeaten side has undoubtedly backfired of late, and the Albion manager will be minded to make sweeping changes ahead of facing Millwall on Saturday (5 November).
