Tom Fellows ‘terrific’ as Daz Hale wowed by what West Brom star did v Millwall

Daz Hale was impressed as Tom Fellows came close to supplying an assist for the opener in West Brom versus Millwall on Saturday (5 October).

Starting in attack alongside Grady Diangana, Mikey Johnston and Josh Maja, the 21-year-old nearly grabbed his sixth assist of the Championship season, creating a chance for his striker teammate.

While the Baggies missed the opportunity to take a one-goal advantage after just 15 minutes, Carlos Corberan will have been extremely happy with the positive signs shown at The Hawthorns.

Speaking live via BBC Radio WM on Saturday (5 October, 3:14pm), Hale said: “It’s terrific, isn’t it? Terrific football – a great inside pass and a first-time delivery.

“The weight of it is fine from Tom Fellows as well, and Josh Maja should be scoring there. They’ve absolutely cut Milwall open. Fellows is beginning to become more and more influential. That was a golden opportunity.”

Tom Fellows becoming undroppable after West Brom v Millwall

It is becoming much harder for Corberan to find any reason to drop Fellows despite a plethora of attacking talent on the bench, such as Jed Wallace and Karlan Grant.

The winger notched four goals and three assists during the 2023/24 Championship campaign, and while he has yet to hit the back of the net, he already had five assists in the league.

He was the subject of plenty of transfer interest during the summer transfer window, and there is absolutely no wonder as to why, given his performances so far this term.

After such a bright start to the season for the Baggies, promotion to the Premier League does not seem out of the question, especially if Fellows continues to perform in the final third.

Back-to-back defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough have seen the Midlands side drop down the table slightly, but there is still lots to play for this season.

In other West Brom news, Carlos Corberan must promote Under-21s star Harry Whitwell after what he did recently.
