West Brom have no excuses after what happened this week – Kris Boyd

Kris Boyd does not believe West Brom can have any excuses for losing against Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday after a positive start to the season.

The Baggies have suffered back-to-back defeats after going unbeaten in their opening six games of the Championship campaign.

Former Boro forward Boyd, speaking live on Sky Sports News (5 October, 12:34), thinks Albion will bounce back after an inexcusable two defeats when they face Millwall at The Hawthorns.

He said: “There’s no excuse losing to those teams you’ve mentioned. Home to Middlesbrough, those are the games you’re looking to win, plus away to Sheffield Wednesday. For West Brom, they’ll bounce back.

“I’m actually surprised they are where they are after losing a few players, but they’ve started the season well and have given themselves an opportunity. They’ve lost two in a row but they’ll bounce back.”

It has been an excellent start to the season, all in all, for Carlos Corberan as he has got his side punching well above their weight in the second tier.

After losing the likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante and Cedric Kipre, there was a fear that it could be a transition season at The Hawthorns.

It hasn’t been the case so far with the Baggies fighting at the top end of the division, even sitting top of the tree before their last two games.

A slow start against Sheffield Wednesday was punished but Albion were able to get back on level terms before conceding a late winner in frustrating circumstances.

The frustration continued against Middlesbrough as the home side just couldn’t take their chances and were made to pay by a late Hayden Hackney strike.

Now Corberan will be hoping that his side can bounce back against Millwall at home, knowing that they need to be better to get back on the winning trail.
