West Brom fans don’t hold back after stalemate v Millwall – ‘laughable’, ‘just awful’
West Brom fans were left desponded as their side failed to win for a third game on the spin as Millwall claimed a 0-0 draw at The Hawthorns on Saturday (5 October).
Coming into the match off the back of 3-2 and 1-0 defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough respectively, Albion struggled to break down Millwall’s jam-packed defence.
Carlos Corberan made four changes in the attacking positions to try and spark a response to the tepid defeat on home soil last time out, but they were to no avail as Millwall desperately clung on for a point.
Josh Maja in particular was guilty of spurning the Baggies’ best chances, but Lions goalkeeper Lukas Jensen had little to do throughout the 90 minutes as Albion went back-to-back games without scoring.
West Brom fans fume at ‘awful’ Millwall bore draw
The mood was one of boredom and apathy once the full-time whistle blew at The Hawthorns, reflecting the passive nature of the Baggies’ last two Championship performances on home soil.
Fans were quick to urge Corberan to make sweeping changes to his setup during the incoming international break, with one saying Albion are “far too easy to play against”.
Another supporter said that the club’s below-par result had “ruined [my] weekend”, with another adding that Corberan needed to go “back to the drawing board” in the next few weeks.
Albion’s lack of potency in front of goal was also highlighted, with their failure to score in back-to-back home games called “just awful” by a disappointed fan.
Further assessment from one supporter saw them say it was “the worst game of football I’ve seen for a long time”, with another describing the club’s last three results as “laughable”.
Corberan was given further instructions from supporters, being told to “put a rocket up them” during the international break, while his “uninspiring back-passing drivel” drew comparisons to ex-England boss Gareth Southgate.
Whatever Corberan does next, it’s clear that the Baggies’ bright start to the season now seems a long time ago in the eyes of supporters, and the Spaniard must raise his side’s game once more when the Championship kicks back into action.
