Dauda Amihere Iddrisa looks set to be the next exciting talent to fall off the West Brom Academy conveyor belt.
Despite being just 16 years of age, and only putting pen to paper on scholarship terms with the Baggies this summer, fans at The Hawthorns have every right to be psyched about the new prospect.
Carlos Corberan is already aware of how talented Iddrisa is, having joined up with the senior team during the club’s pre-season and earning his debut against Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup.
Now, the Italian midfielder has bagged his first goal of the season at Under-21s level, scoring the opener against Leeds United before the Baggies lost 2-1 on Friday 4 October.
It was just his third start for the U21s, having made the huge step up from the younger age groups, but he already looks at home as he linked up perfectly with Eseosa Sule and Harry Whitwell.
Dauda Amihere Iddrisa emerging as next West Brom star
Corberan rarely brings youngsters through to the first team, so for Iddrisa to have already earned his first-team debut under the Spaniard should say everything fans need to know about the player.
Of course, the step-up to first-team football will likely be far too early for the 16-year-old midfielder, especially with how tough the Championship is, but it is exciting, nonetheless.
The Baggies’ midfield looks to be the weakest part of the squad right now, at least if Alex Mowatt or Jayson Molumby become unavailable for some reason.
Uros Racic and Ousame Diakite have failed to make the desired impact, especially during the 3-2 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, so there is certainly space for Iddrisa to make his mark.
Some fans might be yet to hear about the 16-year-old, but he is destined to be a name that is heard ringing around The Hawthorns in years to come.
