West Brom ace Alex Mowatt nominated for Championship award
Alex Mowatt is in the running for the Championship player of the month award for September, West Brom announced via their website on 10 October.
The 29-year-old played in each of the Baggies’ three league games in September, scoring thrice in the process.
Mowatt netted a brace in West Brom’s 3-0 victory over Portsmouth and scored their second in their 3-2 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday after coming on as a substitute.
He will now compete against Wednesday’s Barry Bannan, Blackburn’s Danny Batth and Norwich’s Borja Sainz for the award, with the winner set to be announced on Friday (11 October).

Bannan contributed to goals in each of his three September appearances for Wednesday, racking up two goals and an assist.
However, with the Owls picking up only four points from those games compared to West Brom’s six, Mowatt has more chances than Bannan for the award.
The midfielder, though, faces stronger competition from Batth and Sainz.
Sainz scored four goals, including a hat-trick in Norwich’s 3-2 win against Derby County, in three games last month, helping the Canaries pick up six points.
Batth, on the other hand, was pivotal to Blackburn’s unbeaten run in September as he started in all three games and helped them earn seven points.
The centre-back helped his side keep clean sheets on all three occasions and also grabbed a goal in their 2-0 triumph over QPR.
Mowatt could, thus, miss out on the player of the month award this time.
Nevertheless, he will be instrumental to West Brom’s push for promotion this season as evident from his absence in the first half against Wednesday on 28 September.
